As you may have noticed a lot of people are talking about green smoothies and adding them to their daily regimen. How about you? Have you tried any green smoothie recipes lately?
We’ve tried different recipes for green smoothies and we love them. This one here has a cup of frozen mixed fruit (peaches, mangoes, strawberries), one banana, one cup of apple juice and a handful of spinach.
Over the next few weeks we will be sharing with you various green smoothie recipes and the benefits of drinking them. Are you ready to try a green smoothie? Do you have a combination you would like us to try? Leave us a comment and let us know.
Happy Tuesday folks! We hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend, we sure did. This week we have new item for you, well it’s kind of a spinoff from a previous post we did a while back from Quaker. Remember the Real Medleys Oatmeal? Today’s taste test is the sibling to the oatmeal.
These bars have combined the fruit and nut combinations from the oatmeal and created granola bars. Great idea for an on the go snack. If you love the oatmeal then you will love these bars. You don’t always have the time to grab a cup of oatmeal, mix in the hot water and enjoy the great taste of fruit, oats and nuts. These Real Medley Bars give you that option.
These come in 3 flavors: Cherry Pistachio, Apple Nut Harvest, and Peach Almond. Each bar has 8 grams of whole grains in it. There are 5 bars to a box. They are located in the same aisle as the oatmeal.
Have you seen these yet? Are you going to try them?
Spring should be here soon, or at least we hope. Get in the mood for a refreshing fruit salad. This recipe was provided by the wonderful people over at McCormick, who graciously provided us with a portion of the products and recipes to try. Let’s just say we had a great time in the kitchen with everything.
Ingredients (Makes 10 (1/2 cup) servings
- 2 cups strawberries, halved
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup fresh or canned pineapple chunks
- 1 cup cantaloupe chunks
- 2 kiwis peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 teaspoons McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract
- Mix fruit, confectioners’ sugar and vanilla in large bowl. Cover.
- Refrigerate 1 hour or until ready to serve.
This a great side dish to serve with the Cheese and Bacon Casserole dish, or just as a snack itself. Get your kids involved by letting them mix up the fruit in the bowl or even helping you serve it.
Thank you so much to McCormick for providing us with these seasonings and recipes. Be sure to check out their site for more recipes and ideas not just for holiday cooking but for everyday use.
Do you love chocolate? The smooth, rich flavor of a great creamy treat. Our friends over at Ghirardelli has a candy making chocolate just for you.
We decided to use this candy and dipping chocolate to make chocolate covered strawberries. Who doesn’t love fruit with a side of chocolate?
A very easy chocolate to use and work with. All you have to do is cut the amount that you want to use and place it in a microwave safe bowl on medium high heat in 30 second intervals. You can also make a double broiler on top of the stove if you want.
Not many people use or even like white chocolate but we love it. You still get the same great taste of chocolate but just not as rich as milk chocolate. No worries this candy is available in milk chocolate as well.
Easter is on its way so let’s get ready to experiment with chocolate. Need some ideas here you go:
• Make your own lollipops
• Ice cream cones
There are so many choices for you. Need some help just let us know.
Thanks so much for stopping by the kitchen today. Be sure to let us know if there is a topic you would like to discuss.
