Word of the Year: CREATE

Happy New Year Everyone! This year I am holding myself accountable to some pretty big goals, personally, professionally and spiritually. In order to help myself stay on track, I created my goal plan for the year, broke it down into quarterly, monthly and weekly goals. Having goals and a plan in place, I noticed that while writing my goals out I kept using the same word over and over again; so I decided to make it my word for the year. That word is… CREATE!

 

Create written and video content

This year I will create great and meaningful content. I will be intentional in what I write about, who I choose to collaborate with and how the platform I use to bring the information to you.  Here are just a few things that will be taking place this year. Hello November

Hello November! Fall is here, the holidays are approaching fast and it’s time to start planning for Thanksgiving. Throughout the month we will feature planning tips to help you with your Thanksgiving meal, product reviews and recipe ideas for left over Thanksgiving food.

As usual we will have our Taste Test Tuesday reviews, Kitchen Tip Thursdays and some family food fun. We may even have a little home decor treat for you.

Cranberry Coffee Cake

Here is a recipe that I don’t get to make much. But I still love it. Great idea for Thanksgiving morning or the day after (use left over cranberry sauce) Coffee Cake and a cup of fresh coffee before you hit those Black Friday Sales!!
 
 
Cranberry Coffee Cake
 
Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Cook Time: 55 Minutes
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 (8 ounce) can whole cranberry sauce
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 or 10 inch tube pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the almond extract. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the sour cream.
  3. Pour 1/3 of the batter into the prepared tube pan. Swirl 1/2 of the cranberry sauce into the batter. Repeat, ending with the batter on top.
  4. Bake 55 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown.
