Happy Friday!! This week for Foodie Friday we will be featuring a restaurant in the Norfolk area of Hampton Roads, Virginia. There is also a location in Virginia Beach.

We visited Commune Real Food as a part of a local blogger meetup and truly enjoyed ourselves. I had never been to the restaurant but the menu had me very excited. The atmosphere is very laid back and family oriented. When you walk in you feel like you are a family dinner with loved ones.

Cornmeal Waffles with Fried Chicken

Pasture raised chicken thigh with heirloom cornmeal waffles, chamomile butter and hickory syrup. The meal also comes with a sunny side up egg.

Pimiento Cheese and Pickle Board

Homemade pimiento style cheese with pickled beets, pears, and an assortment of veggies with a side of mustard and some sourdough bread. We decided that after eating this board the cheese would be great on a grilled cheese sandwich.

There was an array of food on our table that day and we all enjoyed our food so much. We will definitely be back.

Our cheese plate. Yes, we added prosciutto to the meal.
