Taste Test Tuesday: Baker’s Dipping Chocolate

Happy Tuesday Everyone!! We hope you had an amazing start to your week. We’re back this week in the kitchen with a new taste test. This week it’s Baker’s Dipping Chocolate. This chocolate comes in a small bowl that you can heat up in the microwave in a matter of minutes…such a wonderful idea. This smooth, not too rich chocolate comes in three flavors, milk chocolate, white chocolate and dark semi sweet chocolate.

Perfect for cake pops, cookies, bon bons, and fruit. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so why not be creative and make your own chocolate covered strawberries, cherries, and pineapples? You can even smother pretzels rods, marshmallows and nuts. Such a quick and easy idea, takes a lot of the work of tempering chocolate and using a double boiler out of the equation.

You get to indulge in your chocolate dipped food excursions sooner than you think! Grab your bowl and get to dipping. This will be our afternoon snack today.

Huffington Post: Bagels and Cream Cheese Article

12 Bagel And Cream Cheese Flavors That Shouldn’t Exist – http://huff.to/1fMxlmw

Above you will find the article from the Huffington Post about bagels and cream cheese. After reading this article and laughing about it, I realized that I have eaten almost all of these item, yeah I know kind of crazy. I can totally relate to the authors voice in regards to the items listed because I didn’t know some of them even existed.

Protein Cream Cheese. Where was I when this was announced? I can’t seem to figure this one out, but I’m sure that the amount of carbohydrates in the bagel have canceled out the protein in the cream cheese.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese. Niece know in the fall I am one of those who will be at my favorite coffee shop buying my pumpkin latte. I’ll eat eat pumpkin bread, pumpkin spice butter and sometimes pumpkin pie. But, I think I will pass on the cream cheese, just not sure the flavor can be captured correctly.

Blueberry Bagel and Chocolate Chip Bagel.  Guilt, guilty, guilty. I have ordered both of these from the bakery more than a few times. I enjoy both of them. There is nothing healthy about eating chocolate for breakfast but I do it with no shame. That blueberry bagel toasted with some butter is heavenly for me.

Honey Walnut Cream Cheese and Strawberry Cream Cheese. Again: Guilty, guilty, guilty. These two are staples in my refrigerator (don’t judge me lol) But I love them. Both of these tastes great on that chocolate chip bagel.

After reading this are my foodie points going down the drain due to my crazy guilty pleasures? Be sure to let me know what you think.

Cooking With Betty Crocker ‘Sweet & Savory Cookies’

How do like your cookies, sweet, extra sweet, chewy, or how about savory? Well we had the chance to receive some great sweet and savory cookies from Betty Crocker called Chocolate Dipped Olive Sables.

Buttery shortbread cookies with pistachio nuts and dark chocolate chips make this cookie a great holiday choice. The cookies actually have a secret ingredient…kalamata olives!! We were shocked to find out there were olives in the cookies. You can’t even tell they are in there. The sweet and salty combination of the cookie goes great with tea or coffee. Yes, they are called ‘olive sables’ but you would expect to taste a strong olive flavor and you don’t. We think Santa would appreciate these great treats, with a tall glass of milk.

Hello December

It’s the month of December, Christmas is around the corner and it’s the end of the year. We hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiivng holiday with family and friends. Since we’re in a holiday mood, what are you looking forward to this month? Is it lots of egg nog, decorating the tree, baking cookies with the kids? Be sure to let us in on some of your favorite holiday traditions.
We have a two year old in the house and he got to decorate the tree over the weekend, boy did he enjoy that. The lights, the ornaments even putting the wreaths on the front door seems to make him  happy. These are the moments that reminded my sister and I about our childhood and Christmas time. Those memories had us thinking about the traditions we were brough up on and what we are looking forward to this holiday season.
  • Spending Christmas with our family ( this may actually be an upcoming blog post)
  • Baking cookies, cakes and pies.
  • Seeing all the Christmas lights
  • Egg Nog ( I can’t drink it, but my sister loves it!)
  • Snow (We’re from Massachusetts)
  • Cookie Exchanges
  • Popcorn Balls
  • Making Gingerbead Houses
  • Christmas movies!!
These are just a few of the things we are looking forward to this season. What are you looking forward to this holiday season? We may feature you on our blog this month.

Do you love chocolate? The smooth, rich flavor of a great creamy treat. Our friends over at Ghirardelli has a candy making chocolate just for you.

We decided to use this candy and dipping chocolate to make chocolate covered strawberries. Who doesn’t love fruit with a side of chocolate?

A very easy chocolate to use and work with. All you have to do is cut the amount that you want to use and place it in a microwave safe bowl on medium high heat in 30 second intervals. You can also make a double broiler on top of the stove if you want.

Not many people use or even like white chocolate but we love it. You still get the same great taste of chocolate but just not as rich as milk chocolate. No worries this candy is available in milk chocolate as well.
